What if you could re-experience success again?

其实这篇帖子的内容和这个标题没太多关系， 只是我做完OG11的语法题以后， 头脑里出现的画面是曾经看过的一个广告， 背景是华尔街， 阴暗的天空下着小雨， 一位西装革履的年轻人在雨中敞开双手拥抱着雨， your first major deal. 好像是一个金融公司的广告。 这就是我做完这138道题后的感觉， 小小的成功， 只有自己知道， 却是未来之路上小小而重要的一块基石。

终于把OG11的语法做了一遍， 这是我的答题纸， 结果是惨不忍睹。不过做了一遍确实有很多提高， 比如说现在对verb form (就是考动词的时态)， parallelism把握得比较准了， idiom需要积累， 回头再下载一些idiom的资料。 以前对什么时候用that， 什么时候用which一点概念都没有， 现在弄得比较清楚了。

今天把我的备考计划也贴上来。
基本上是OG11有10章先用7个礼拜看完一遍， 期间每2周做一套模拟（GWD或者Kaplan）， 最后2个礼拜请假在家休息， 做模拟， 清除难点。

计划就是这样了， 前段时间想得最多的问题就是， 我3－5年的未来要做些什么， 还要不要继续做技术， 3年工作经验去美国读MBA值吗？ 能被美国顶尖MBA录取吗？ 这些问题部分有了一些答案， 部分心里有了些底， 还有些要若干年后才能见分晓， 我想回忆一下过去， 希望能有一些对未来的reflection:).

我从小就对电子和小制作很有兴趣， 上学之前爱好很丰富， 喜欢数火车， 数汽车（是的， 没有搞错）， 后来开始拆收音机，组装模型汽车（铁的， 需要用螺丝刀组装的那种， 红色的， 后来摔坏了， 非常心疼）， 用电池和铜线点灯泡， 点小马达， 拆小马达，做电磁铁，玩磁铁，玩注射器， 游泳， 滑旱冰， 骑单车，玩组装模型车（玩了好多辆，买防撞装置之类的小配件，还买当时昂贵的马达）好像有个日本的漫画讲过玩这种模型车， 任天堂红白机， 街机， 沙丘魔堡（实际上叫command & conquer), 红警， 星际， 魔兽 ，学DOS, 在dos里玩游戏， 装windows 3.11, windows 3.2, windows 95, windows ME, windows 2k..., QQ, Redhat (已经不记得哪个版本了但是绝对是元老级)， Pascal, 做自己的第一个网站， 在电脑上看第一次亲密接触...

后来根据自己的兴趣报了计算机系， 后来因为交换生换了电子， 后来找到一份工， 成了千万软件工程师中的一员， 软件工程师中有的是因为爱好，有的是因为软件工程师好找工作， 有大学学物理的， 有学机械的， 有学数学的， 有做计划生育的， 总之天南海北。 而我却是一个要从技术走出去的人， 说实话很舍不得， 我目前还是把自己MBA后的职业定位在软件或者高科技行业的市场或者产品经理。但是我想就算是那一天到来了， 我还是会写自己感兴趣的代码的， 也许不会写什么惊天动地的大软件， 娱乐娱乐自己吧。

记得自己曾经天真的和人较真过， 未来， 阅读代码会和现在看杂志一样普遍， 好的代码会和好的文学作品一样受欢迎和赏心悦目， 呵呵， 对有些人这个想法还是太疯狂了。

计划

今天在CD上看了一篇帖子《谁都能走出困境，只要你坚持！》其中对我最有用的一句话是“每天获得什么新的收获，比是否完成了计划要重要的多。”

这个和日本的Kaizen（改善）（大陆的同仁没有代理可能访问不了Wikipedia...）理论有异曲同工之妙。

不过还是要平衡完成计划于每天改善。

写了这么多废话， 其实是因为昨天啥也没干， 工作没激情， GMAT也没激情。。。人生的低谷啊。。。in ideal world， 我每天认真投入8小时， 下班了就认真GMAT。 可惜we don't live in an ideal world don't we?

记得和永康讨论过MBA学习任务重什么的， 我当时的论点是， 在国外， 食物结构不一样， 根据我的经验干更多的活是没问题的， 而且国外社会比较easy， 不想国内这么艰难， 所以自然能做得更多。 此话一出， 难免被扣上外国的月亮圆的帽子。 前几天看博客， 这位在福州的美国仁兄跟我有共鸣。他说“The biggest difference,” I told him, “is that if you were working in the US, you would most likely be working less hours, but doing a lot more work during that time.”

Sometimes knowing the fact just bothers me.

昨天team里共事2年的一个同事被lay off了， 他有比较特殊的原因， 然而也反应了公司的不景气。 但是随着08的奥运和10年的世博我还是很乐观的。

这周六的Milestone得完成OG11 yellow的语法部分。Guy Kawasaki诙谐的点评过the difference between a milestone and a task. He said a milestone is an achievement like "shipping a software" a task is a piece of work you need to do such as buying stationary. He gave an example, when you completed a milestone you should call your wife and tell her "hi honey, We shipped!", you don't call your wife and say "honey, we bought stationary!"。

Instead of making a call, I will cook a meal when I finish sentence correction of OG11. Hmmm, maybe call my dad.

我如何manage我的GMAT project和money

我用的basecamp 这个web2.0软件管理GMAT，可以管理todo list, project milestone, 和白板， 我用白板来管理我的选校，因为白板可以记录所有的变更， 所以我可以知道我选校的变化。Basecamp 还有collaboration功能， 最重要的是Basecamp的基本功能是免费的，高级功能收费，有兴趣可以注册一个帐户， 给我留言， 我把你加入到我的GMAT project里面就可以看到我的project进程了:).
关于Money我是比较后知后觉的， 因为要给公司还钱所以就去取一个好久没动的储蓄帐户， 结果密码忘记了：（， 试了好多次都不对， 只好密码重置， 被告知为了帐户安全， 一周后来改新的密码， 收费10元， 钱如果不投资， 赶不上经济发展的速度， 也赶不上通货膨胀的速度， 7月份发住房补贴， 我就把补贴全部买债券型基金， 不知道啥是基金或者债券型基金的同学请百度或者google一下。 投资学讲究diversified portfolio, 中文就是不把鸡蛋放一个篮子里， 我50％的投资放入fixed income(也就是债券或者债券型基金) 30％放入股票型基金， 20％放入中长线股票（6－12个月持有）。
股票我一直读爱搞搞同学的博客, 我的股票投资原则是

1. undervalued stock 呵呵， 每个投资人的第一原则， 低估的股票
2. 我可以了解的公司， 比如商业银行我可以去他们的网点， 零售业可以去他们的商铺， 等等， 光看公司的财务报表或者新闻炒做是不够的。
3. 具有中长期的投资价值， 这个可以有很多解释了，比如一年内有大事件发生（奥运， 新公司投资。。。）， 有新的投资人加入， 具有投资价值的证据（私有化， 外资注资etc）。。。
4. 如果股市普遍过热（股票都被高估）则将20％的股票资金放入基金。

og11 SC 20 错6 ， 遭遇瓶颈

还好哥们有时间和耐性， 语法就停留在70％的正确率了， 离750的目标还有一定的距离， 呵呵还剩7周。

昨天啥也没干

昨天煮了饺子吃， 在职准备真不易啊。 老板出差回来了，又是鸡飞狗跳。 昨天和北京深圳开conference call的时候和老板顶了几句， 心情很差， 晚上就什么都不想干了。 抽时间我得把我这几个老板说说， 公司是财富500强， 老板还是各具情态。 今天上班听说老板下下周要出差， 那个开心呀， 晚上又有心情看两页书了。
今天看到又有人留言， 很感动， 中文博客人气就是旺啊， 估计那个英文写的不会怎么热心写了， 也就让一些老外朋友知道我的动向罢了。

Verb Form这几种， 做起来还是很tricky。 不过这次不像裸考GMAprep时选起来那么茫然了。吼吼。 类型旁边的数字表示错误的题数， 总数大于7是有的题考了多个考点， 比如说黄书第16题就考了Idiom和Logical Predication。 目前我Logical Predication最惨， 看看OG11的解释， Watch out for phrases that detract from the logical argument.
Modification problems: Modifiers should be positioned so it is clear what word ofr words they are ment to modify. (我晕, 跟没说一样)
Example:
Correct: " I put the cake that I baked by the door" Incorrect: "I put the cake by the door I baked. "
多练吧， 对于我等语法较差的同仁来说唯有不断的练习才是王道啊。

p.s.发现练GMAt后喜欢抖腿， 据说能缓解紧张的情绪。 发现练GMAT后伸手敏捷， 刚才一伸手打死一只蚊子。（以上应该算parallelism:))。 GMAT的日子要与蚊子相伴了。。。

处女贴

从2006年底开始考虑GMAT应该算是处心积虑了， 我一直在写自己的博客（全英文）， 因为还怕同事发现， 只好重新开一个， 以记录我的经历， 希望能记录自己的奋斗， 也希望能给后来人一些参考价值。选了个绿色的blog style， 因为国人都把GMAT弄得太吓人了， 活得太累， 呵呵， 大家轻松点：）

今天2007年5月28号，上班第一件事， 刷托福考位：）。 北京6月份有好几个学校都有iBT的考位， 看来托福考试一坐难求的现状能得到改善， 我还是集中精力把7月份的GMAT先考好再说。

昨天周末忙着从以前的房东手里拿到押金， （打扫， 结水电， 交钥匙）。 做了30道OG11的SC, 错了13道！不过发现每错一道题对SC的认识都有些提高。

周一来公司上班， 打开从chasedream下载的word版的og11 sc， 郁闷的发现居然和我家里紫色的og11 verbal不一样！ 谁能帮我下到word版的og11 sc？ update： 原来橙色的og11和紫色verbal里面的sc是不一样的， 低估了老美的职业素养，原来以为他们copy一下书就一下出3本呢。
